$ 3.2 billion is the volume of the Arab Pharmaceutical industry

This Industry covers only 50% from the total Arab needs, this is announced by the (AUPAM) Arab Union of Pharmaceutical And Medical Supplies.

Mr. Adnan Bedwain ‘Chairman of AUPAM Council” announced to Kuwaiti News Agency,  that floating the prices will broaden the Competition and promote  quality in the Arab Pharmaceutical industry.

Mr. Bedwain also declared that there is 320 Pharmaceutical factory distributed through the Arab countries, 110 out of these are highly equipped and have a production capacity considered to have a footprint in industry’s development with an investment valued $ 3.2 Billion  and running with 220 thousands employees with different expertise.

Mr. Bedwain added: The aim of this industry mainly for exportation & its exports valued $ 1.2 Billion either through bilateral trading or with other countries outside the Arab region. He also assured that this industry enhanced the Health services in the region through its impact on security of the Arab pharmaceutics.

Mr. Bedwain Also pointed on the importance of Research and development to push the Pharmaceutical industry to be a strategic one, because without R&D we will face a great challenge to comply.

Mr. Bedwain explained the importance of R&D because by 2015, 50% of the global pharmaceutical market will be based on Biotechnological products not Chemical products.

AUPAM was established in 1986 located In Amman in Jordan& considered as one of the Arab Organizations established to reinforce the Common Arab work& covered by the authority of the Arab Economic Federation under the umbrella of Arab States Council.

The Arab Union aims for the development of Arab Pharmaceutical Production & make it available in good quality and affordable price  for the Arab citizens with low cost by establishing Arab Pharmaceutical Market with encouraging of producing raw materials& packaging materials.
